Halloween In Old Town
I have some pretty great memories of Halloweens growing up. As a kid, I was much more into the “how much candy can I get in my pillowsack” as opposed to the “I want to be scared silly” by costumes and decorations. Now that we have children who are old enough to trick or treat, I’ve become much more aware of the awesome decorations that are around Old Town, and in particular, some of the amazing decorations on Mountain Ave. It certainly seems that Mountain Ave is the unofficial Halloween destination in Old Town, and you will find a little bit of everything on many homes, but here is a collection of the more “grand” and awesome halloween decorations you might see as you cruise down Mountain Ave this year.
614 Mountain Ave
This is the most elaborate of all of the decorations that I have seen in Old Town and is well worth stopping by. The house itself already has a bit of a darker vibe with the red brick and black painted trim, but the owners have always put on an amazing display of decorations at this home. If you can only stop by one house, this is the one!
900 W Mountain Ave
For years this home has had large displays for both Halloween and Christmas. The quantity of decoration is not huge, but the scale certainly is grand!
700 W Mountain Ave
The witch at this location will occasionally speak up and talk to passerby’s which adds a bit of surprise as you are walking by. The creepy white eye detail makes for a bit of an experience.
1039 W Mountain Ave
The new owners of this home certainly have a penchant for decoration, and it didn’t take very long for them to erect 3 massive figures on the lawn that could cause quite the scare to children. While the decorations don’t quite tie in together to tell a vivid story like 614 W Mountain, I’d say this is my second “must-see” on a Mountain Ave tour as it just has so much going on with a grand scale.
