Stodgy Brewing: Neighborhood Brewery and Amazing Patio

Finally, spring is upon us here, and nothing says spring in Colorado quite like meeting up in a nice, relaxing outdoor space. Add some beers, bikeability, and food trucks and you have the recipe for a pretty great meeting space. I think most people associate downtown, or some of the more popular bigger breweries (New Belgium or Odell’s) for their patio beer space. I can’t deny that I do love those locations, but Stodgy provides a low key, middle of a neighborhood vibe that is tough to find these days.

Plenty of bike parking in this local, neighborhood style brewery

Perhaps this is your first time hearing about Stodgy Brewing, and if so, I highly recommend visiting their website for a bit of history and context of the building, it has been around for quite some time and the owners took particular care to pay homage to what was there before. https://www.stodgybrewing.com/about/ I think that most people will come to Stodgy for their ability to relax in a nice outdoor space with good beers, and the patio space has a nice mix of beer garden style community seating, as well as some more private deck and table spaces

The lower “beer garden” area is especially awesome once the trees leaf out and the sun shines bright.

We are a casual neighborhood gathering space in north-west Fort Collins, where people can connect and relax around great beer. We are founded by a brewer and a landscaper and we have a large outdoor patio and cozy indoor spaces to drink beer.

The beers are also quite good from what I’ve had as well, which will bring people back time and time. Most recently I enjoyed the hazy IPA, which was quite good, overall and a great patio beer. The hoppy farmhouse beer was the other beer I enjoyed, and while the beers aren’t necessarily the top of the town (there is some tough competition) they are definitely of good quality and easy to drink.

The former business’ (friendly fire) sign is proudly displayed inside on the larger seating area

Most surprising to me was how nice the interior feels as well. I could definitely see myself enjoying a beer inside on a cold winter night as the interior provides a nice, snug, atmosphere with a nice mixture of natural light, lighting, and warmth of wood ceilings. I certainly would recommend checking Stodgy out at some point when you have a chance as it is a great, inexpensive alternative to heading all the way downtown and is a great place to meet friends for some nice conversation.

Great views out to the patio from the lower seating area. Local artists work are on display and available for purchase as well.

A nice mix of seating styles and great natural light
